I think that MisterNathan is right 'cause you shouldn't rush into a relationship. I would pray about your situation and if God reveals to you that you should go out with this guy, THEN DO IT! Just speaking from my perspective, I've heard that long distance relationships almost never work out, but he is only leaving for a year and it sounds like you'll get to see him, so it could work.
