My dad says that I can listen to some non-Christian artists, but he's got to approve of the bands/singers before I can listen to them. I am basically banned from secular rap/hip-hop becuase of all the impure/negative things the artists sing about. Anyways, to answer your question, if you are a strong believer, then I don't think it's wrong to listen to non-Christian music. I listen to quite a few non-Christian bands like Switchfoot, Creed, Godsmack, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, etc. and I don't feel myself being pulled away from Christ. If your a weak believer, then you might not want to listen to Christian music, becuase you might not know if it's acceptable or not and you can easily get dragged in the other direction in your walk with Christ. So basically, it's not bad to listen to non-Christian stuff, you just have to watch out for lyric content. It's the depressing songs that lead you away from Christ. If the songs sing about sex, drugs, alcohol, satanic things, etc., then stay away from them. If they just sing about harmless things like an ex or something like that, then it's fine to listen too as long as they don't use foul language. You should always listen to your dad though. Do what he says and you can listen to non-Christian music when your older hopefully. Hope I helped!
