I agree with all the advice given so far. For years I wanted a girlfriend cause everyone "cool" had one. Of course I was always the fat kid so none of the girls I liked liked me back. After a while I basically just gave up. I did finally get fed up with being fat too, and while I'm not skinny now, I lost 50 lbs. so I'm skinnier. This wasn't just to get a girl though, I just feel so much better being able to run a mile without nearly passing out halfway through ;) I had always had crushes on girls and just tried to be friends with them cause that was all that ever happened. Then, I met a girl that I instantly knew was different. Now after a little over a year we started dating a few months ago and it's going great. So I would definitely recommend NOT dating just to date. I mean here I am at 18 with my first real girlfriend (and who knows, maybe my last too if things keep going the way they are). The last few years I was always frustrated that I could never get a girlfriend, but now looking back, I'm really glad I waited (even if it wasn't by choice). I believe it was all in His plan for me not to date, but once I gave it all up to Him everything worked out for the first time EVER.
