I ask you this: Most eschatologists consider that the prophecy in Malachi 4, to be just that, a prophecy of a future event. It is obviously in the future because, at the time of me writing this, the great and dreadful day of the L-rd has not yet arrived, therefore, at some future date, Elijah will return to fulfill his mission. Now, allow me to ask this question: If this future event (and it is), why does G-d, through Elijah, require the “children” to remember and return to Torah (in the future) if the Law has already been done away with and rendered obsolete by the death and resurrection of Yeshua, the Messiah? Could it be that HaShem has never done away with it? I will submit that the latter is more accurate. We decided that we did not need “every” word that proceeded from the mouth of G-d, just the ones that fit into our (man’s) theology. RETURN!
