"Ponyo (on a Cliff)" is the latest film from Hayao Miyazaki, the Japanese filmmaker behind Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa, Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away. It is distributed in the U.S. by DISNEY and is rated G. I went and saw this film last night. I really enjoyed it, as it was quite humorous and I think its light-hearted messages are ones that can be appreciated by a broad audience. I hope that the use of magic in the film does not discourage conservative or heavily religious parents from censoring the film like HARRY POTTER has been known to start. (A note-- none of the magic in this film is violent in nature.) Please give this film a looksie. I rarely see movies in theaters anymore but this was worth every dollar. It even has ecological messages. (also check out the other Miyazaki films listed.)
