To those who work in the field of emergency medicine and rescue it is often easy to think that we will always be helping someone. Rarely do we stop to think that we may need help! Emergency services workers are just geared to jump in and take care of things and make it all work out. Sabrena was one of those people who just jumped into whatever she had to and did what she could to make a difference in a life.

On December 17th, 2008 Sabrena jumped in her truck and headed for work like all of us do on any given day. A short distance from her home the truck left the road and struck a guardrail. Crews from numerous agencies responded swiftly as always and tended to her serious injuries as she was extricated. Sabrena continued to talk to her co-workers throughout the ordeal and even told them how they could get an IV started easily. That was just Sabrena. She had a love of this work and was serious about life and living it to the fullest. In her time of need she was still making every effort to be her own Paramedic.

In the end our crews managed to release her from the mangled truck and get her to the nearest trauma center in a relatively short time. Sabrena worked in this ER at times and the staff was ready to do whatever it could to save her life. No resource was spared and many of our staff members lined up to donate blood to help her. In the end the many injuries she received proved to be to much for the surgeons to overcome. God had a different plan and on that day a simple drive to work turned into a lasting tragedy. It makes us all think about what could happen to any of us on any day. Paramedics are not here with the idea that something will happen. They are here just in case it does happen. And, sooner or later it always does.  

The Paramedic
A Paramedic reflects the value of a humane deed,
when called to serve another's hour of need.
Their missions are grim and training takes years,
expecting no fanfares or least of cheers.
No restraint on one's gender or the shade of one's skin.
They're a dedicated group and fraternal within.
Working hand in hand with their fire and police brothers,
they serve their community and often many others.
Their movements are precise and tending a victim is swift,
when lives are in peril, their mere presence is a gift.
Unique is their concern for a saving a life,
a God given calling in this age of apathy and strife.
It's a labor of love....
often given little credit.
Always there when you need them....

The Pentagon announced TODAY the formation of a new 500-man elite fighting unit called the United States Redneck Special Forces (USRSF).


These Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, West Virginia, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas boys will be dropped off into Iraq and have been given only the following facts about terrorists:

1. The season opened today.

2. There is no limit.

3. They taste just like chicken.

4. They don't like beer, pickups, country music or Jesus.

5. They are directly responsible for the death of Dale Earnhardt.


The Pentagon expects the problem in Iraq to be over by Friday!.
