I'm sure a lot of this music is a little before your collective times. But I'm sure there are still a lot of us in here who remember the older christian music we grew up on. A lot of these songs still speak to me. Of course I still listen to a lot of it, so I guess it should. Most of what I am talking about is from the 80's and even some from the late 70's and early to mid 90's. Some of these are, in no particular order... Rich Mullins Michael Card Phil Keaggy Bryan Duncan Petra Russ Taff Whiteheart Wayne Watson Margaret Becker Susan Ashton Keith Green If you have any particular favorite groups or songs from this era I encourage you to post them here. I'm sure I have failed to list many of my favorites from that era myself, but I will be updating I'm sure.

One of these songs that got me started on this thought is Farther On by Russ Taff. I've thought about and listened to this song many times over the years. It is comforting to me in times of struggle. Another song from this same CD says "He didn't pull you from the river to drown you in the sea". That seems to be kind of a common theme on this whole CD titled The Way Home. Farther On by Russ Taff I hear You have a soft spot for fools and little children Well I’m glad ‘cause I’ve been both of those I shook my fists up toward the sky and at most of those who love me A frightened angry boy in grown up’s clothes (Chorus) A father’s eye can always see right through and a father’s heart can tell when things are true Now I’m standing on this road Your hand has brought me to Your faithful love will lead me farther on Life sure has it’s choices You left those choices to me And I’m glad but sometimes I feel caught It’s hard to know which bridge to cross and which bridge I should be burning I long to learn I’m so slow to be taught (Chorus) A father’s eye can always see right through and a father’s heart can tell when things are true Now I’m standing on this road Your hand has brought me to Your faithful love will lead me farther on (Repeat chorus once more)

Louis Prima. True "old" music. Not Christian, but still great. Stryper.
