I am a huge wuss when it comes to horror movies. I don't watch them very often so, unlike people who see them all the time, I am not desensitized. Even movies that I know are just using cheap jump scares make me really nervous. After a good jolt or two I just know they are going to keep doing it so I wait for it, kind of pent up like. It actually takes me out of the story because I can't allow myself to just get sucked in, I'm afraid of being lulled into complacency and then shocked again. That's why I like horror films that mess with your MIND, not your GUT. I swear if movies didn't have loud sounds to play when something happened, they'd have to find legitimate ways to freak people out. But with all my complaining... I'm still a pansy. Anyone else that way?

:Raises hand: Wimp here...;) I watch all scary movies with a pillow safely clutched in my hands. Yeah, I really don't enjoy horror movies. Especially the really gory ones. I don't get how anyone can really enjoy that. But, hey, they're not me. I do, however, enjoy a good psyc thriller. Like Flight Plan, with Jodie Foster. I enjoyed that one. And I know there are others, just can't think of them at the time.

In it, you're forced to do or say something that you would probably not otherwise do or say and mostly likely shouldn't do or say. . . and it doesn't have too much to do with scary movies. Anyway, I must admit, I like scary movies, but I don't watch much of them, certainly not the modern ones. I'm into the old scary movies - Vincent Price, Alfred Hitchcock, etc.

Alfred Hitchcock has never made a scary movie. He's a fantastic director with an impressive filmography but his films are more suspenseful than actually frightening. The Birds is probably the closest thing to a horror movie that he's done.
