that's why i don't like the term "christian band"... it sort of makes no sense, there is no real line you cross between christian and secular.

I could have sworn I heard that they were Christian themselves but they didn't want to be known as a Christian band 'cause then non-Christians wouldn't listen to their music. Guess I was mistaken.
well, how do we define a "christian band?" their message is Christian and they have alter calls at their shows... therefore, i would definetly consider them a Christian band

I saw Switchfoot in concert back in September and they never had alter calls there as far as I can remember. They didn't even talk about Christ or ask if anyone wanted to accept Christ. It seemed like a non-Christian concert for the most part.

I think Switchfoot would be considered a crossover band. They used to really be a Christian band, but now they may still be Christians, you just can't tell by most of their music or shows anymore. This is not to say that they act unChristian or anything, they just don't act openly Christian as I've heard they used to

I think that you can listen to any kind of music but you have to stay close to god and if there is something bad in the song then just dont go out and do it

With how many fans they have, they could really impact God's kingdom if they acted more openly Christian!

It's about whether you're a strong Christian or not. I'm not saying you aren't one, just correcting your argument ;) .
the way i see it is if u are a 'strong christian' u wont have the desire to listen to it....imm not arguing with u on this.....b/c i listen to it at work......and i admit i like the songs......but its not my first choice...it doesnt make me feel the same as listening to christian music does.....does that mke sense?

i think some of the main christian bands like relient k and POD are great, but i just dont see them as making a major impact on music. i think thats part of the reason i dont listen to christian music
