Hi, My name is Chris and Matt is my brother. He is in the hospital right now as he has been since Saturday morning. I know this forum and many of the people here are very important to him and I wanted to let you all know his situation. Right now he is in Methodist Hospital, where they are taking very good care of him. They have people watching him all day long, in fact there's one person at all points of the day who's only patient is him. However, he is in critical condition. He has been unconscious and on a respirator since he got here, as well as hooked up to more machines than I could mention if I wanted to. The good news is today we were told that he is partially breathing on his own. They don't know how long his recovery will take, and they say "if" he recovers... which I don't believe is an if but when. I don't really know what all to say here, but I wanted to let you all know where he is and why he's not on here giving suggestions and advice like usual. Also I would like to ask anyone and everyone to please pray for his well being. I don't know what else to say at the moment. But I don't regularly check this, but my little brother has a laptop and the hospital has free wifi so I will try to check at least this thread, as I'm sure matt would want me to, to keep you all posted. Hey folks... We are all quite upset with this news... It amazes me how relationships can and do happen online. We feel like we know Matt in such a close personal way. He has been such an amazing person over the last 4 years and has givenso much to this site. I have called his phone and left a message, and I have also talked to the nurse at the hospital. There were no family members at the hospital when I called. I am going to call back in a little while. THe nurse, obviously, could gve me no information... However, she did say that she expected that someone from his family to be back. I promise that we will keep you updated as we get information, and as soon as we get it. Please keep him and his family in your prayers... Can you imagine the the gates of Heaven being flooded with prayers from hundreds of Brothers and Sisters in Christ? God is good! Hey everyone. I'm a local friend of Matt's and I can give a smidgen of information, because honestly, that's all that is available. This was a sudden cardiac arrest kind of situation. His brother found him in bed and not breathing on Saturday morning. They aren't sure yet what is the cause, and may not know for a while yet. His condition right now is quite serious. It's in God's hands, so please continue to pray. I'm sure Matt would want all of you to know where he is and how he is. His brother Chris will be at the hospital with him continuously, so I am sure he will be able to let you know, and if I find anything else out, I will try to give you updates. Peggy

I'm sorry about the short description, I just kinda wanted to start the prayers going. I woke up early on saturday morning and heard him struggling to breathe. I tried to wake him up... everything I could... but I couldn't get any response. I walked away for maybe a minute or two and came back and he had stopped breathing. I immediately woke up my little brother and called the ambulance. My brother helped me pull him to the kitchen floor (as the person on the line said to get him on a flat surface to start CPR). Matt is much bigger than me or my brother and it was difficult but couldn't have taken more than a minute or two to pull him out there. By the time we got him there and I was about to start CPR, the ambulance had already arrived and the people rushed in. They worked on him for some time (I really can't give a timeline... I just don't know how long it was), but at one point one of the people said "I'm gonna call it at .... " (don't remember the time)... basically like time of death. Then about 20-30 seconds later another of the people said he got something on his device. And basically they did get his heart beating again at that point... however they were still doing the breathing for him and they rushed him to the hospital. It's been a long weekend, and I really don't want to get all the details of the equipment he's on and all that. But basically he's here, and his heart is still beating. Please pray for him... I know we're supposed to give in to God's will... but I can't believe that someone who shines light on so much darkness, someone who unravels so many of Christian history's mysteries, someone with so much work still to do, can be brought back to life in my kitchen only to be taken from us in this hospital.... He's only sleeping and will wake up when God finishes explaining to him what he needs to know...... Thank you for your support of my brother... he has sought long and hard for a forum of believers who may or may not accept his beliefs at face value, but will allow him to post them without them being edited or deleted... only contested and argued. Oh man, I'm praying for him f'sure, as well as his local friends and family. He's a big member of this community as I'm sure you know, and a good friend. I'll try to get everyone I know locally praying as well.

Aw man... I haven't talked to Matt in ages, but there was a point in time when we talked almost daily. He's a great mind opener. My prayers are definitely going his way. Thanks for letting us know.

I don't have any good news or much I feel like adding at the moment. But I do have a favor to ask. I know he has been on here and made many posts. From time to time I would see one open on his computer and read through the page. I was wondering if someone who has been here for a while could possibly post some links to some threads where some of his more meaningful posts were, I want to show it to my mother, but I don't have the energy to look through right now and mark them. So what I'm asking is anyone here who knows Matt and has been moved by something he posted on here, please find that thread and post a link of it... I would really appreciate it.
