I'm not sure why I bother to watch movies that the critics just love. Much of the time, these "critically acclaimed" movies are just not very good. Michael Clayton is no exception. I spent most of the movie waiting for it to get to the good part. It had some descent acting and a marginal amount of suspense/drama but it just wasn't all that interesting or even barely entertaining. I usually love movies like this, but this one just didn't live up to the hype at all.

Sometimes critics like really good movies. It just depends. Critics loved Ratatouille and No Country for Old Men this year, both of which were just fantastic. Juno, another critical darling, was closer to average. Best thing is to find a couple of critics who frequently agree with your tastes and value their opinions over the consensus as far as deciding what you will see.
