Blended worship the heart of worship in God's light. What does the Bible say? Psalm 33:2 Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. Psalm 43:4 Then will I go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight. I will praise you with the harp, O God, my God. Psalm 92:1 [ A psalm. A song. For the Sabbath day. ] It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High, Psalm 134:2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the LORD. Psalm 138:1 [ Of David. ] I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; before the "gods" I will sing your praise. Psalm 149:3 Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and harp. Psalm 150:3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, Psalm 150:4 praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute, Psalm 150:5 praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. These are just a few of the many verses in the bible that talk about praising God. King David who many people then and today claim as a great man in are bible said this in his very own words through the inspiration of God. Because we all know that every book in the bible was God breathed. Through most of the book of Psalms all he talks about is praising are God in every way we live are life. Not once does he say that there is a particular way that we have to worship him or particular instruments we have to use or certain songs we have to sing. According to the verses above David himself sang songs used instruments other then the tradition ones and did many things to praise the God of the universe who he served. According to the pamphlet that Dr. Rick Flanders wrote this man would be bring darkness to the light of God. But wait didn?t God just have David write in His word to do this. David wrote about in Psalms about how much he loved the Lord and wanted to praise Him. So according to Dr. Rick Flanders we should all just forget the book of Psalms and consider David a sinful man who brought darkness to the kingdom of Israel. Blended and Reborn According to Dr. Rick Flanders a blended service consist of the traditional and new modern approach to worship and he is absolutely right. That is exactly what it is a mix of the old with some of the new. Is there anything wrong with this absolutely not. Dr Flanders says that this is a mix of the bad and the good but this is not a mix of good and bad but good and better. Because people use guitars, drums, bass guitars does not make this rock and roll. If you want the modern version of rock and roll just go to a head banner, mosh pit swear fest and the local band stage. Cause what we see in a modern churches worship services is no where near rock and roll. In Dr. Flanders pamphlet Blended worship it talks about on man saying that blended worship can not work. What happened to the pulls of pastors all over America asking them what they think. He didn?t included this little fact to prove the point he wants to prove not what America and God wants to prove. He say that we choose songs on how we like them in contemporary services. Today even in a traditional service pastors do that. They will choose songs that they know and like and that fit with their message. I had the privilege the help out a worship pastor at one of the mixed churches and he never picked songs that the people or he wanted he pick them out so that they blended with the service and the pastor message. People that play in these so called rock and roll groups each Sunday do not go up there for the performance and if they do so help them when we get to heaven they go up there to give there talents to God. Something that he has commanded us all to do. According to Dr Flanders worship is not a person does in this place or that it happens in the heart. Well according to this he just reversed all he said. If it happens in the heart then we can praise God in any way we wish. In the Verses in Exodus that Dr flanders presents he talks about how the people worship the Idol with dancing and worshiping the golden idol. 3Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 4Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; According to the ten commandments he say not to worship any other god?s Before Him in any way. He say nothing that dancing, sing praise, using instruments is an abomination to Him and it brings Him to anger. What brings him to anger is when we worship for show and tell and not to bring praise to His name. Sin Dr Flanders says we cannot mix sin with Worship to God and he is again right. We cannot mix sin and still worship God because this hurts God, sin angers God. But we all sin in Romans it says ?For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God?. Everyone that he ever took and once of air upon this world has sinned. I have sinned you have sinned and Dr Flanders has sinned. So if any of us go in front of God and praise Him in any way we are an abomination according to Dr. Flanders. So no matter which service we go to traditional, modern, or a blended service we all fall under the same category. God doesn?t give special privileges on what kind of service we go to. But if we go in front of God with a servants heart willing ask for forgiveness and worship Him with our hearts he does not care in what way or fashion that we worship Him. The Solution In the Bible Moses ask a simple but relevant question. Who is on the Lord side, and that is a question we have to ask today. Who today is on the Lord side. Just because we go to different churches and worship in different ways does not mean we are not on the Lord side. When we become a Christian we make that decision to be on the Lord?s side and we need to grow and become stronger in Him. When we come before God to worship in what ever way we do it needs to be from our hearts and not from our heads.
