Bio : I live in western Pennsylvania just north of Pittsburgh. My wife and I were saved during what is commonly called the ?Jesus Movement? of the early 1970?s in which thousands of young people who were tired of their rebellious lifestyles came to Christ. I am a singer/songwriter/guitarist/storyteller. My repertoire consists of original compositions and covers of historical American music with accompanying stories.

Well, this post should dispel any doubt. For those who know me, I receive a fair amount of spiritual insight from observing the birds that frequent the feeders in our yard. Today a tiny chipping sparrow crashed into our patio window. This is a fairly common occurrence. Sometimes the bird will survive and sometime not. The little fellow lay motionless on his side for a long time and the only evidence of life was his rapid breathing. Now I know that birds die every day, but somehow today this little one touched my heart. Silly huh? Maybe yes! Maybe no. Anyway, my wife and I found ourselves praying for it’s recovery. Sob here is the question that begs an answer: how does one petition the Lord of heaven for the life of a seemingly insignificant bird? As we often see there is really no direct answer in the Bible to that question. But here is the point to all of this: even though we are often confronted with this quandary we are nevertheless convinced by scripture of the very character of God. So we can approach the throne reminding Him that he is a kind God. Psalm 36:7 says “How excellent is thy lovingkindness! O God!” We also read that Jesus constantly reached out to the poor, sick, and hurting sinners he encountered. Also, the Bible is filled with God’s concern for the poor and downtrodden. (Not to mention Matt. 10:29 says not one sparrow falls to the ground without him noticing.) So here is the take-away: when in doubt, beseech God on the basis of his character! You can’t go wrong with that, right?

For those who need closure, yes the little guy revived. It took a while but after an extended period of lying there, then sitting up etc he apparently fully recovered.
