Demise of the Nations of Israel

By poets, prophets, priest and kings,
And David and Solomon and the songs that they sing.
You gave them your code on how they should act,
And promised them true they never would lack.

But it seems on deaf ears, your words did fall.
On Jehu, Joash and even on Saul.
They started right and started true,
But soon they forgot the truth that they knew.

After alliances, idols and false gods too,
They chased and they worshipped and forgot about you.
You sent them warnings and new prophets to cry.
They might turn for a season but their sin didn?t die.

They left up the pillars they built to false gods,
Way up on high, those tributes to frauds.
They made your heart sad for soon they returned
To worship the lies, the truth they did spurn.

Locust and drought you sent time after time,
To warn them to quickly turn from their crime.
Even the threat of their allies to invade,
And take them as slaves, failed to assuage.

So you kept to your promise as only you could,
Is-ra-el was consumed as you told them they would.
And with it you warned, Juda would soon perish too,
If the covenant you made wasn?t quickly renewed.

To drive your point home you gave them a taste,
When Assyria invaded annihilation they faced.
But you gave them reprieve and wiped them all out,
Thousands destroyed, your power no longer in doubt.

Juda hung on for a hundred or so years,
But her fate was sealed when she relinquished her fears.
And Babylon came like a wave at high tide.
And washed over Juda, God?s will was applied.

But as God promised Adam soon after the fall,
He?d give a redeemer one day to save all.
He promised again after Juda?s demise,
One day a great savior for all will arise.
