For me, there are times when a desert sunset needs no elaboration. This was one of those moments. Enjoy!

Yesterday afternoon my wife and I had the itch to drive out to the Superstitions and explore. I had a particular place in mind I had wanted to show her. A couple of months ago I had encountered some old antique bottles buried around two saguaros and I knew she would enjoy examining them. Who put them there and why? Who knows? Upon our arrival it began to rain softly as we walked amongst the cacti. I love the smell of desert rain. There is something so invigorating about it. The temp dropped from 103 to 78 in a matter of fifteen minutes or so (I have a gauge on my car). It was wonderful to be able to escape the heat while still in the desert. :-)

Young – While hunkered down in a field of tall grass, this white-tailed fawn meandered toward me grazing and completely unaware of my presence. Then just as I raised my camera, it looked up, paused in a moment of surprise, and then turned and quickly bounded off to mom. Click here for printing options

Here is something we didn’t expect to see … while on our White Mountain trek we came upon this brilliant red Virginia Creeper. The contrast of green and red reminded me of the Christmas season

I spent a lot of time pouring over this little mountain meadow. Walking almost in circles, I just couldn’t decide how to best compose it. Thus I opted to contrast the row of wildflowers with this family of conifer trees. The various sizes and colored hues drew me in while the foreground seemed to offer a nice divergence of color
