While on a photo safari in Africa we visited a good number of small, poor villages where the women seemed to be always busy at work while the men sat and observed. This particular woman gave me permission to snap a portrait while she was mudding a wall on her hut. I was captivated by the worn look in her eyes

These old remnants can make for some very interesting compositions, especially when they are contrasted with the shorter evergreens surrounding them. In this case as we were coming around the bend (on a paved mountain road) I caught sight of the moonrise, stopped the car, and began to position myself in what I thought was just the right spot … which happened to be smack dab in the middle of the road … and snapped away until I was satisfied with my framing, all the while my sweetheart had my back, watching for traffic

As we prepare to head to the White Mountains for a fall color photo shoot I thought I would share this image with you. I was struck by the contrast of color in this scene separated only by the road. Really looking forward to getting up there
