update

Hey everyone!
Well we are on our way back to Oaxaca after our staff retreat in Houston Texas. It was a blessed time of rest and reflection, and just been enjoying the freedom we have in Christ Jesus. Most of all, it was a time of celebration as my 6 months of intense "Spiritual" training is over. A while back I know in my heart that God was telling me ahead of time that I was going to go through the most intense 6 months of my entire life. I look back and I have to smile. Indeed it WAS. it wasn't anything drastic on the outside, but mostly inside. God brought me through a time of testing and molding and shaping. Bringing me to a call to a live a higher standard of purity, as well as a learning what it means to pray and truly speak to someone about the love of Christ. It was a time of alot of daily Spiritual attack, and learning it is only through Worship, Fellowship and the power of prayer that we win though the victory is all ready ours. it was an adventure like none other. I learned a bit more about leadership playing a role with the missionary training students.... it all has to be based on a Love farther than what we can muster on our own, but a Love that only Christ can give. But this week I was almost brought to tears of joy as God was revealing to me that it is "finished", it was a great fight ( I like to look at it as if it was a boxing ring) . There were times that I felt like I had a thorn in the flesh, times I wasn't sure how much farther God could take me, times I had to learn to depend on your encouragement, the blessings of fellowship of those at the base, and taking God's word to a reality as He says: 2 Tim 1:7
7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
and then break through with prayer. Prayer took on a whole new exciting meaning for me as God was teaching me how far prayer goes, and how it is our most valued weapon. I dont know if I have ever been so busy as well. But now it is as if God is saying "you can relax now, your pruning is done, your training is done, now it is time to relax and live out what I taught you" I look back, and... well.... it was alot of fun actually. It's like a boxing match, some rounds you win, some you fall but you all ready know from the beginning that you win the fight: ph 1:6
If I had to go through it again I think I would, and no doubt there will be other times that God will test me with the fiery test.
I hope this e-mail is encouraging, and does not sound too much like "I" and "me, me, me"... because I only want to express what God has been doing in my life through your prayers, support and encouragement. as well as I mention this as a praise because I rejoice in: James 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
I like to think that one's faith is never truly brought to joy unless it is tested and tried. and so I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for joining with me through these months of excitement and seeing and hearing what God has been doing through the the lives of the students as well as through the villages. The healings, the baptisms, the bible studies. Thank God!
a praise also would be... FINALLY ...after months, I finally have the hearing aid for the man in Yucunama. I can't wait to hand it to him, and then speak with him and get to know him better... and more importantly introduce him the the Man that made it possible, the one who loves him most, Jesus Christ.
What is next?
Now many of the students have left to do other things as I have mentioned. Some have stayed to do language learning. The next 2 months for me will be focused on the those in Yucunama; to strive to allow God to use me and anyone else with me to give them a stronger foundation as next term we will not be in Yucunama as much as we will be focusing in the market town more. Summer I will be helping out with our Summer interns that will come join us for a 2 month missions trip in helping us do church planting.
I think I am going to also going to take up writing again, perhaps write a gospel tract or small booklet on God's grace.I will need prayer for God's leading and for time to even do such a task.

All in all... thank you all! God bless!

Ok guys.. this is a looong update... but I will do my best to revise it! I just could not help put type it all from what was going on today!!! I praise God!!

Praise God!!!

Ok this is a looong update.. but I will do my best to revise it tommorrow.. but I just could not help but just type it all for now! So please bare with me!!!

An awesome day!!!

Praise God! He is soo awesome! Rejoice with me as we give thanks to God for He is awesome! Well, I have had a blessed day! but before I start that, I have to admit this has been the most intense 7 months of my life.. and an awesome adventure. I am soberly in joy as the Missionary Training students are now about to graduate next week and many will be off to different ministries around the world. God has used them to truly challenge me in many ways. They will be missed. I try to send a pic of them in my next newsletter.

Today was awesome though. I have to admit I have felt far from God's presence these weeks, it has been like a roller coaster.. in which I rejoice because usually something awesome happens after that. First Mark and I left to Yucunama this week. This was hard on Mark because this was his last day comming to Yucunama, and so it was alot of good-byes for him. I can tell he has grown alot this year. Anyhow.... we were able to visit Willie, the grumpy american that has lived in Yucunama for 10 years. (apparently he was a stunt man for Top Gun and got injured into an earlly retirement) Also apparently he was addicted to morphine and heroine for some years, but recently has asked us to pray for him. So everyone at the base did. And today he was rejoicing because it has been 2 months since he has quite! He aknowledged that it was our prayers. We responded that, it was God who still listens. It was awesome, I felt the peace of God, and both Mark and I explained the gospel to him. I can tell he is waighed down with his past sin and I think its a heavy thing to give to God. But he wants me and others to continue to visit him, and he aggreed to us to give him a bible and do bible studies with him!

Next was the bible study. The bible study I had planned to do I usually wait to give when one commits their life to Jesus completely but this time I felt as though I was topose to give it. So with just Elias's family, we did a bible study on the story of Jesus's resurrection in the book of Luke.Elias read the story and bam... once he got to the point on reading:

Luke 24:37They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. 38He said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? 39Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have."

He excaimed in spanish "THEN.... Jesus resurrected with his body as well!!!" I was stumped. I looked at him with a smile as I realized he never knew that Jesus's physical body resurrected as well.. not just his Spirit. I had to ask him more specifically... "so you did not know that Jesus with His body resurrected??" He told me no, he always thought it was just His Spirit. I asked him if this changes his view on prayer. he had always thought that he was talking to a Spirit when he talked to Jesus. It was a pleasing shock to him. He exclaimed that this is something to dwell and chew on for a while. I then went on to explain that Him resurrecting in body form is why we have such faith and is what gave the disciples such faith to believe and follow Him... knowing that He defeated death.. that death has no power over Him. that is why we focus so much on Him and not as much on any of his disciples and even his mom... because no one else has resurrected LIKE Jesus and caught up to heaven! I explained a bit of my testimony how I use to believe in idols because I wanted to have something physical to help me pray to Jesus but knowing that He resurrected helped me alot. That when you talk to Jesus you are talking to a physical Jesus whom we can't see. They were blown away... and so was I because it just reminded me of the joy of perhaps a glimpse of the tip of the tip of the iceburg of what perhaps the disciples must have felt like to understand that Jesus resurrected.. rose from the dead and is ALIVE!

Romans 6:9
For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.

I couldn't even imagine what Elias and his wife was feeling. When we ended in prayer, I started first and then Elias and then his wife. Elias prayed to God giving thanks for revealing something new to him, revealing how he resurrected! When his wife prayed, she just prayed a simple pray of thanks, and that she would like to talk to him more now that she knows she is talking to a Person. And I say more than a Person!!!

I was soo excited to have been able to see that... and humbled. Nope... I am trying to say something else now... but nope.. there are no words for seeing that. Last week we had a great bible study as we studied Pauls testimony and how ruthless he was in murdering Christians and how God changed him and used him to plant many churches and write much fo the new testament. Elias exclaimed "so God can forgive anyone and use anyone ". I again encouraged him to commit his life to Jesus in which he replied that would be nice... but something he felt missing... that he needed to know more. I think this night was what he really needed! And what many in Oaxaca need... or many in the world for that matter. I am realizing more and more.. many dont even realize Jesus is not dead anymore but ALIVE!

To top it off I had to go back to the base tonight to get my dental stuff and head back tommorrow to check some teeth. I shared with the driver of the urbans (sort of like taxis but in a van with other people), turns out he knew someone from the base, enjoyed our conversation and didn't charge me a thing!!!! God is awesome. His name is Sergio.. please keep him in prayer as he was interested of learning more about Christ but people in urbans work more than 100 hours a week!

Thank you all soo so sooo much for your prayers! To top that off.. it seems after LOOONG waited time... within the next month the hearing aid which I have spoken about months ago will finally arive. Thank you those who have been praying and contributing! I can't wait to give him the hearing aid and then he can hear the gospel more clearly. (he can't read)

Please pray as tommorrow as this time Brian and his family will head back with me to Yucunama and they will be doing their rounds of goodbyes while I will be sharing more with Elias as well as with Juana and her husband and any one else God leads. Pray that we meet Willy and he still accepts the bible we are to give him.

God bless! Love you all and miss you all! But am blessed by God to know you all!!!

Website updated; any suggestions?

Hey everyone! I have been striving to update my website.... still lacking in some pictures though I am working on that... but... to be honest I stink at websites! I would love for any of you to check out my website and let me know what you think.. what would you like to see more of... what should I improve on...  and suggestions. Still working on making it easier to navigate. On the top menu there are more options when you simply leave the pointer on the tabs... though at the bottom it does not do that. Not sure if really it matters. Just trying to figure things out. :) God bless! Enjoy!

for many who are confused by that... it is a verse from the Bible that really impacted me... it stands for 1 corinthians 12:25

1Co 12:25-27 ESV
(25)  that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.
(26)  If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.
(27)  Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.

who we are in Christ Jesus

who we are in Christ Jesus!!

I am accepted!

I am God's Child

Joh 1:12  But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,

I am Christ's Friend

Joh 15:15  No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.

I have been Justified

Rom 5:1  Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

I am united with the Lord and one Spirit with Him

1tooCo 6:17  But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him.

I have been bought with a price, I belong to God

1Co 6:20  for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

I am a member of Christ's body

1Co 12:27  Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.

I am a saint

Eph 1:1  Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints who are in Ephesus, and are faithful in Christ Jesus:

I have been adopted as God's child

Eph 1:5  he predestined us for adoption through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,

I have direct access to God through the Holy Spirit

Eph 2:18  For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.

I have been redeemed and forgiven all my sins

Col 1:14  in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

I am complete in Christ

Col 2:10  and you* have been made full [or, have been completed] in Him, who is the Head of every rule and authority,

I am secure!

I am free from condemnation

Rom 8:1-2 ESV  There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.  (2)  For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.

I am assured that all things work together for good

Rom 8:28  And we know that He works all things together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.

I am free from any condemning charges against me

Rom 8:30-34 ESV  And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.  (31)  What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?  (32)  He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?  (33)  Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies.  (34)  Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died--more than that, who was raised--who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.

I cannot be separated from the love of God

Rom 8:37-39 ESV  No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.  (38)  For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,  (39)  nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I have been established, anointed, and sealed by God

2Co 1:21-22 ESV  And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us,  (22)  and who has also put his seal on us and given us His Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

I am confident that the good work that God has begun in me will be perfected

Phi 1:6 ESV  And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

I am a citizen of Heaven

Phi 3:20 ESV  But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,

I am hidden with Christ in god

Col 3:3 ESV  For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

I have not been given a spirit of cowardice, but of power, love and sound mind

2Ti 1:7 MKJV  For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

I can find grace and mercy in time of need

Heb 4:16 ESV  Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

I am born of God and the evil one cannot touch me

1Jo 5:18 MKJV  We know that everyone who has been born of God does not continue to sin, but the one born of God guards himself, and the evil one does not touch him.

I am significant!

I am salt and light of the earth

Mat 5:13-14 ESV  "You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet.  (14)  "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

I am a branch of the true vine, a channel of His life

Joh 15:1 ESV  "I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser.

v5  I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

I have been chosen and appointed to bear fruit

Joh 15:16 ESV  You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.

I am a personal witness of Christ

Act 1:8 ESV  But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

I am God's temple (shrine)

1Co 3:16 ESV  Do you not know that you are God's temple(sanctuary, shrine) and that God's Spirit dwells in you?

*shrine was added to the parenthesis because I found it's meaning in the greek....

I am still learning and studying what did shrine mean back then.

I am a minister of reconciliation for God

2Co 5:17-21 ESV  Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.  (18)  All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;  (19)  that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.  (20)  Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.  (21)  For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

I am God's co-worker

1Co 3:9 ESV  For we are God's fellow workers. You are God's field, God's building.

2Co 6:1 ESV  Working together with Him, then, we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain.

I am seated with Christ in the heavenly realm

Eph 2:6 ISV  raised us up with him, and seated us with him in the heavenly realm in Christ Jesus,

I am God's workmanship

Eph 2:10 ESV  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

I may approach God with freedom and confidence

Eph 3:12 ESV  in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me

Phi 4:13 ESV  I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

good verse"

2Co 2:15  For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing,

I joyfuly accept the truth that my Father God is...

1.intimate and involved

Psa 139:1-18 ESV

(1)  To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. O LORD, you have searched me and known me!

(2)  You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar.

(3)  You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways.

(4)  Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it altogether.

(5)  You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.

(6)  Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.

(7)  Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence?

(8)  If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!

(9)  If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,

(10)  even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.

(11)  If I say, "Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,"

(12)  even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.

(13)  For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb.

(14)  I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

(15)  My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.

(16)  Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there were none of them.

(17)  How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!

(18)  If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you.

Praise God! Another Baptism, this time in the village of Nundaco!

Praise God! Last week I was just speaking with the other missionaries and Mtstudents about the joy of seeing MTS students Pam and Angela baptize the president…and how I can’t till it starts to happen in  in Nundaco and Yucuane…. And what do you know.. The following week as David and I were staying in Nundaco, we did a bible study with Arnulfo and his dad. That night his dad repented and wanted to make that commitment and be baptized as a sign of his love for Jesus. 2 days later David and I took him to the river and we baptized him. It was during the day and in the middle of working on a house. I wasn’t sure if he was serious till I went back to see if he was ready and there he came out walking with different clothing, putting someone else in charge for the meantime. He was walking fast and asked me are we ready? I was shocked with joy and encouraged at his faithfulness and desire. And off we went to the river. I am currently working on placing the photos at my website. It was such a joy. Again… I can’t imagine what the angels are doing in heaven.
Yucunama is going great as we had 3 families and a teen come to the bible study in Juana’s house. This topic was the prodigal son and repentance. They all agreed they want that permanent change and for the Holy Spirit to baptize them. So we discussed commitment and expressing their repentance through baptism. Please keep them in prayer as this week they consider the cost of following Jesus.

(note… one is not saved through baptism but through turning to Jesus in faith.. But a true lover of Jesus will desire to express his love through loving obedience to the first basic: baptism. Where as in the states we do it differently, we express it through sinner’s prayer. But did not want to cause confusion as to Baptism.)
Act 2:41  So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.
Act 8:12  But when they believed Philip as he preached good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
Act 8:36  And as they were going along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, "See, here is water! What prevents me from being baptized?"
Act 9:18  And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized;
Act 10:47  "Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?"
Act 16:33-34 ESV  And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds; and he was baptized at once, he and all his family.  (34)  Then he brought them up into his house and set food before them. And he rejoiced along with his entire household that he had believed in God.
Act 18:8  Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, together with his entire household. And many of the Corinthians hearing
Act Act 22:16  And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.'

Again... we are saved by faith!

1Jo 1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
