I'd love to be friends! Nightwish and Epica are VERY similar to Within Temptation. So you would probably like them! Nightwish is my FAVORITE band, they are the BEST band I have ever heard. All the members have been classically trained and the lead singer was classically trained as an opera singer! She is a professional opera singer! I'm glad you liked the song! ^_^ I LOVE IT!! i'm not a big fan of the melodic sort of gothic metal stuff. within temptation's singer doesn't have a very appealing voice to me, it seems sort of like it's not very strong and doesn't fit very well. i do like dragonforce a little, but that's about it. for gothic metal/symphonic metal i enjoy mostly only virgin black, but they have more doom influence. i am glad though that bands like these are becoming more of what people think of when they think of this type of music, rather than evanescence. ben moody was a good guitarist, and rocky was a better guitarist than a drummer, i liked his stuff in living sacrifice and soul embraced. basically, i appreciate the music, but don't like it at the same time. oh wait, i like slechtvalk. they had a female vocalist who did a lot of classical style voicing.

I love Evanescence... but they are not gothic or symphonic metal. They are more emo rock... mixed with a little Christian influence. Sharon whatever-her-last-name-is actually does have a very strong voice, she is able to overpower the rest of the band while still being able to sound mysical and breathy. Now, I can't tell you to like her voice 'cause that is your own decision. I however think her voice goes very well. It gives them a very unique sound that only they have. Oh, they are Symphonic Metal, not melodic, not gothic. Although they do have slight gothic tendencies in their music. But Nightwish and Epica are really amazing too! ^_^ I LOVE THEM!

Oh! Speaking of Memories from Cats, I've seen the musical! (As a movie though.) It's good!
