gonna be a good season!

hey, check it out, i'm back! after a long time of not doing anything on the internet, it's the beginning of the track season, and i can already tell it's going to be a good year on monday varsity guys did a 6-mile run and i finished 3rd of 5, and one of those five was in college. i must also note that i came in in front of james fazzio and matt riley, my high school's #1 and #3 cross-country guys, (i was #4) so a very good start then yesterday (tuesday) we ran a mile warm-up, then 2-and-a-half of the state's most challenging 3-mile course (my time was 17:30, a pretty good clip) and i came in fourth behind james and matt and jack leng (cross-country's #2) out of seven then we ran (same workout, ha!) 3 800's on the track, and i ran 2:36 (second place, behind matt) and 2:37 (third place, behind matt and james) and on the last one i was racing jack for third down the home stretch (i've never beaten jack in the finishing sprint before) and we got going so fast that we almost caught up to matt and james! but the reason i've never beaten jack is because he's just as fast as me, but a better distance guy, so i'm always behind him, and when i come up on him, he takes off and i'm tired. so i was just trying to focus on him, and in the last 30 meters i managed to let the beast out and rocketed by him LORD, JESUS, I RUN FOR YOU!!! i can already tell i'm going to be fast this season... our first meet is on feb 22th. if i can get my mile under 5:00 that day, by the end of the season i'll be unstoppable! the Bible says that a man can work hard and enjoy the benefits he gets from his work, that's a gift from God... ooh, baby baby, am i enjoying the benefits! everybody pray for my season, that i don't get bogged down with injuries and uncool stuff like that and that i can run fast and bring glory to Him! i probably won't be on in a while again, but the next time my physics class goes to the computer lab, maybe, and then i'll see all your wonderful comments and prayers, right? thanks, even if you don't! -run for Jesus

DUDE!!! (think i'm a little excited?)

dude! i just ran a 5k on sunday in 17:49!!! that's 59 seconds faster than my fastest 5k ever!!! it was cool; all the rediculous mileage and training i've been doing is totally paying off! it was unexpected because the last time i raced at all was in early june at the trail challenge, and i did horrible there. the last time i raced well was at the track and feild league championships in the middle of may, and that was in the mile, less than a third the distance of what i ran sunday. thank you, LORD!!! now i have another medal to add to my collection. now i have nine medals: 1. trail challenge 2005, for 6th overall and 2nd in my age group 2. jail break 2005, for 8th overall and 3rd in my age group 3. monte vista invitational 2005, for 20th 4. ram invitational 2005, for 9th 5. artichoke invitational 2005, for 6th 6. trojan invitational 2005, for 4th 7. oakland invitational track meet 2006, for getting the 4x800m relay team into 3rd 8. bob warren/charlie eaton relays 2006 for getting the 4x1600m relay team into 3rd 9. run to the lake 2006 (sunday), for 5th overall and 3rd in my age group. and i also have 3 ribbons: 1. viking opener invitational 2005, for 13th 2. top 8 invitational track meet 2006, for getting the 4x800m relay team into 6th place 3. top 8 invitational track meet 2006, for getting the 4x400m relay team into 6th these are fantastic gifts from the LORD, because i was the stupid, arrogant, little non-athletic kid that everybody made fun of, and now i can do over three miles in less than eighteen minutes and i run on varsity sports teams. thank you, LORD. "More over, when God gives any mand wealth and possessions, and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his work--this is a gift from God. -Ecclesiastes 5:19

a great workout

i was going to run

1 mile warm-up

1 mile strides (jog turns, sprint straights)

4 800s

half-mile cool-down

halfway through the strides

i psychologically plunged

i do that sometimes

it's not a good thing...

so i only ran half the strides

and was about to go home

but i found myself in the bathroom

staring myself in the mirror

saying, "you are going to run four 800s

and you're going to run them all under 3:00 apiece!"

so i went back out, and this girl came up to me

and told me about how i was a crazy "ay" mother "effer"

and how she'd never seen a white boy run so fast

and stuff

so i ran my 4 800s

when i do 800 repeats

i usually average about 2:50-2:55

my first one was 2:36

my second one was 2:31

my third one was 2:32

my fourth one was 2:28

and to make up for the half-mile i skipped in the strides

i ran a full mile cool-down

and felt very good about myself.

"With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity.  My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yeild surpasses choice silver."  -Proverbs 8:18-19

thank You, Lord, that my work is yeilding such success.

all this is my worship to You.

not such a fine day

yesterday i was going

to start up a fantastic workout

that would secure my spot

as league champion next year.

just before i left for the track, however,

i noticed that my big toe

on my right foot

felt the same way it felt

that day in cross-country

when the coach said it was

SPRAINED.

so i followed the procedure,

i taped the big to to the second toe

so there's less pressure

from the ground to the big toe

and went to run real slow for half an hour.

20 minutes later, i came into the house

took off my shoes

and iced the toe because

it had gotten worse.

then i tried to write this

in yesterday's blog

but it said some error

and didn't enter it.

the good thing, though,

is that my coach said

i'm fine, just baby it.

so i'm cool to continue the workouts

that will make me champion next season.

"That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil--this is the gift of God." -Ecclesiastes 3:13

the trail challenge is next sunday.

cross-country is in three months.

doing well in these will be my food and drink.

pray for success and satisfaction

that comes from God!

thanks.

a fine day

today was (refer to title)

mom found a bunch of cds

that we like

but couldn't find when we moved

these included

alan parsons project greatest hits

and a cd that my sister's husband

who was her boyfriend at the time

made for mom a long time ago.

then i went running

and ran 14 miles

over hills

without stopping

in one hour and fifty-two minutes

so that was a good run

then i listened to mom's cds

and that got my musical juices flowing

and it's only four o'clock

i can't wait

to see what the rest of the day

will bring me

probably soreness from my long run!

helpful hint

i learned something new today...

since my band went kaput

i've been going to the high school choir

to keep my voice going

so i don't lose my fantastic voice Smiley

(yeah, i'm a humble Christian, all right!)

anyway, i got this solo

that i've been affecting a lot

lots of trills and cool stuff to show off

and make it sound cool

and it kinda made me sound

like a nasaly punk singer

there's nothing wrong with punk

but i don't do it!

so i discovered that i can affect it less

and it sounds better!

this may be "the bomb that i've been waiting for"

(jon foreman, switchfoot)

"But, 'Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.' For it is not the man who commends himself who is approved, but the man whom the Lord commends." -2 Corinthians 10:17,18

Lord, let my music be to Your glory

not mine.

"let everything that has breath praise the Lord!"

i have breath.

i'm a long distance runner...

i know i have breath!

so i want to praise the Lord!

in a rut

my music has come to a screeching halt.

i've started four songs already that have not been finished.

none of them!

what should i do?

Lord, i desire this music to be to Your glory... but it won't come out!

help me get the words across, the riffs perfect, and the emotions tuned in.

i want to make a joyful noise!  all i'm making is a frustrated blog.

"I am the true Vine, and My Father is the Gardener.  He cuts off every branch in Me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.  You are already clean because of the Word I have spoken to you.  Remain in Me, and I will remain in you.  No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine.  Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.  I am the Vine; you are the branches.  If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing."                             -John 15:1-5

Lord, help me remain in You and be faithful that i will bear good fruit.

-Cheshire
