brother reed does sound annoyed and whiny. and green day are not the most satanic people. HIM, the cure, slipknot, lamb of god, and a lot others are way more satanic than green day. and the thing with them cussing is that theyre so good at it!!!!!!!!!!!! other bands try to cuss and it just doesnt flow right with the song. and they still cussed in the early stuff, but no one has a problem with that. now theyre "anti american". which is true in a way, but the whole cd follows the story of JOS/st jimmy and all the people he meets on the way. and theyre bigger now than they ever were in their career. so you cant say they suck!!! and do you wanna talk anti american with me? there are a lot more anti american people than green day.

so, because of the style they play they are satanic? assuming this is true, basically every genre of music is anti-god... including old hymns, since the church deemed them as satanic when they were introduced. seriously, you are not listing satanic bands. check out these links to bands that have lyrics that might help you're side of the argument a little better.. whatever you're trying to prove. http://www.darklyrics.com/m/marduk.html http://www.darklyrics.com/c/cannibalcorpse.html those are two bands that are probably more in the area of what you would consider lyrically disturbing. bands like HIM and the cure really make me wonder what you consider satanic. and about talent vs. popularity... i think you're missing brother reed's point. talent today is determined by popularity, not by actual skill. the bands that are at the top of the charts today are generally not very talented, they are just popular, and therefor considered to be the most talented bands today, which is ultimately not true.

who said they were unpopular? you are still clearly missing the point. read carefully: popular bands today are generally not very talented. just because they are popular does not mean they are talented enough to stay on top... the music industry keeps putting out crap, and for some reason it sells.. who knows why. people, including you, think they are talented because they are in fact popular. a prime example of this is nirvana.. kurt cobain had literally no musical talent whatsoever... but, he got put on mtv, people heard him, and because they saw him on mtv he became a rock god.. then sold a bunch of albums, and became popular... am i making any sense?

This is true. Kurt Cobain was a crap musician (though he did have a unique voice). Anyone with a few months of guitar experience could play all his songs with their eyes closed. Heck, how did someone like Britney Spears get popular? At one point she was the single most recognized name in the country! And she can't even sing. Here's the unfortunate truth. Music is NOT a meritocracy. Far from it. Labels find or build a band. They choose what the public will like next and they pay off radio stations to play the songs and TV stations to play the videos and people just eat it up. The exposure makes the band famous and they are popular even if they never had any real talent to begin with. To be fair, Green Day is far from being the worst band ever. At very least they write catchy songs and that takes some ability to do. Yet anyone who doesn't like them has plenty of ammo on their side. Get used to the fact that, in general, there aren't many good musicians in punk or pop punk. Drummers, maybe, but that's about it. Green Day is a below-average group that just happened to strike it lucky.

you can not say that green day arent talented. they have written 124 original songs and are still going! they wouldve been gone a long time ago if they couldnt write a song to save their lives. thats why you saw people like ricky martin and nsync come and go so fast. it was because they didnt have any lyrical talent. their lyrics made no sense at all
