i guess i do agree with brotherreed, they do have some hooks in their music. i hate getting their songs stuck in my head. the amount of songs written does not indicate the level of talent a band has. you probably haven't heard many underground bands... there are way too many to count, but there are many many bands that have written tons of songs, and are still together (yes, both bands that suck and bands that don't).

Green Day is one of those bands that can write great catchy songs. No billi-joe is not the best guitar player, mike is not the best bassist. But look at the Ramones none of them were masters of their instruments but they wrote the catchiest songs you've ever heard. Yeah a lot of metal bands of good guitarists but they play these overly technical guitar solos for what seems like 10 minutes. Punk music in general is more simplistic, beauty in simplicity. And Green Day has punk roots.

its kinda funny because they used to practice metal like ozzy osbourne and stuff like that. queen sometimes. and they did listen to some punk bands like the clash and the ramones.

And Green Day has punk roots.[/quote] that's basically my point. they write songs with the utmost simplicity, but that doesn't mean they don't have good music. i don't like them very much, along with most all of the popular music today because the simple and catchy is not for me. and queen is not metal. i'm sure that's not what you meant, but your syntax could mislead people.

i wasnt calling queen metal. i was saying that they listened to ozzy and other metal stuff and queen. queen is like kinda hard rock (main genre on rhapsody) and classic rock
